October 2018 God’s Closet News

Welcome to Fall & God’s Closet
We have received many large donations of  children’s clothing for fall and winter. We welcome all children from birth to high school at this time, as we are not asking for men’s clothing because of space.  We are in need  clothing from birth to school age. Once it comes in, it goes out fast!
Diapers and laundry soap are also always welcome! If you are  doing any fall cleaning, we will welcome kitchen items—they go out fast too.
Crafty Crafters are busy getting ready for the bazaar in November. What a show with so many craft items! We have had a run on lap quilts. Crafters put the tops together and I put it together. Then Jean Barnhart ties the love knots at Eberhardt Village. The residents enjoy seeing them come and go each week! What a joy!
I am also happy that the children are coming back to start youth on Wednesdays! I have really missed them! “

News from God’s Closet: September 2018

Welcome to September & God’s Closet. The school supplies went fast and made many school children excited for the first day of classes. We have just a few things left. Thanks so much to Kathy Oye and Oye’s Hardware for all their help & support! We have had a lot of families shopping for school clothing for their children. There have been lots of excited children of all sizes finding things that they like!

Our kitchen items have been going out fast!   If anyone is doing any fall sorting at their house, we can help by sharing… We had to post some signs stating that we are not accepting adult clothing for awhile because I want to have some more children’s clothing available.   Don’t forget bed sheets, blankets and pillows go out fast too! If you have some that you would like to share, we will gladly take it. There have been 62 shoppers this month. Our local dentist donated dental supplies for the back to school children. What a blessing! Thank you so much!

Crafty Crafters have made and sold many beautiful quilts the past few months. Thanks to Jean Barnhart’s crafty knot tying! Thanks to all for helping keep the closet going. We couldn’t’ do it without your help!

God’s Closet News: August 2018

It’s hard to believe that it will soon be “back to school,” time! AUMC will have school supplies in the center hall of the basement on August 8th from 2:00 pm—5:00 pm or as long as they last.

If any member wishes to donate supplies such as backpacks, small and large crayons, notebook paper, pencils, pens, water-color paints, folders, rulers, or pink erasers, etc, please feel free to do so.

We have had several families shop in the closet this past week with their children and lots of clothing went out which makes my heart smile!

News from God’s Closet July 2018

June has been a busy month in God’s Closet. We have received many large clothing donations as well as donations of kitchen items. A coffee maker went out the same day that it came in!
We had a request for boy shoes for ages 10 to 12. Howard and I have had a great week this month with two of our great grandchildren: Jack who is age 4 and Olive Elaine Ramsey from Tulsa, Oklahoma. We all loved playing at Eberhard Park!

We look forward to the Arthur fire-works. May God bless all of you at AUMC!

May 2018 News from God’s Closet

We have had a busy month with many large donations of bedding, pillows, blankets, sheets, several afghans and place mats coming in. Many of these donations left the closet pretty fast!

We also have had several donations of kitchen items such as dishes, silverware, glasses, pitchers, pots and pans, coffee pots and dish towels. If anyone has items in their kitchen that they do not use, we would be happy to “pass it on” to others.

Spring is on the way and we are in need of spring and summer clothing for children from birth to teenager. When this type of clothing gets donated, it goes out fast and the parents and children are so happy to receive the donations!

We thank everyone who has donated to the Closet so that we can continue to help others. God bless all!

August 2017 God’s Closet News

We have received several large donations of clothing this past month. School supplies will be available on Wednesday, August 2 before and during the Community Meal, in the basement of the church. We plan to ask for donations of small household items such as single clean mattresses, lamps that work, lamp tables, high chairs for babies, baby beds, cooking pans and rocking chairs for families in need.
The shelves will not be moving from the closet. Susie Mulvaney will be using them for storage for the craft items. The plan is to move all the clothing from the basement in August-even clothing from the storage building.
We feel that it is in God’s will for this outreach to continue.

July 2017 God’s Closet News

We are hoping this month brings back the Community Meals and God’s closet will be active for families in need.

We have received many donations this past month from the community which are very welcome. In a few weeks, school supplies will be at the top of the list of needs for all of us. Crafty Crafters finished 10 quilts last month and placed them with shut-ins within our community and Linus for children in distress. God Bless all who have helped anyone in our community tis past month.

Happy birthday with love to our 1 year old friend, Hazel Rose on July 4!

June 2017 News from God’s Closet

The closet is ready for a busy summer. All summer clothes are out and the shelves are full! When we arrived on Monday after the garage sales, the boxes were stacked in front the Closet’s door. We are always thankful for donations from the community.

The Crafty Crafters were also blessed with boxes of overalls for next year’s rug making for their bazaar!

We are always in need of clothing, diapers, laundry soap and clothing for newborn babies up through age 2 and 3. Sheets and towels are also always needed!

We are grateful to our community for donations of furniture, pots and pans and kitchen supplies for those in need.

We thank God for our giving community!

May 2017 News from God’s Closet

This has been a very busy month!

We have helped 52 people with clothing, dental products, laundry soap and baby-needs. All of our spring clothing has been brought out. Lots of people were waiting for shorts and athletic shoes.
We have had a large donation of clothing from the community which we have placed in lock up and storage until the Closet moves to the basement.

Donations of diapers, laundry soap, sheets and laundry and bar soap are always welcome.

We always welcome summer clothing for children too! Thank you to all who have donated this past month.

April 2017: News from God’s Closet

We have received donations of spring clothing for children and hope to receive more the next few weeks. We had a very happy boy walk down our hall with a very nice pair of athletic shoes on his feet last Wednesday evening.

It will soon be time for summer shorts and tops –if anyone has any outgrown items to donate!

We have had requests for sheets and pillow cases, towels, wash cloths and dish towels. We can always use diapers, laundry soap and bar soap.

Thanks for all of your support to this very needed outreach and enjoy the Easter season. The Easter Bunny will be delivering to 26 friends soon!
