WHERE HEARTS COME HOME
You’re not just welcome- you’re wanted!

The Arthur United Methodist Church is the people whose hearts have come home to the life changing reality that is Jesus Christ, who long to share this truth with all homeless hearts, and who nurture home found hearts toward Christian maturity.

SCRIPTURE OF THE MONTH

“At one time, we too were foolish, disobedient, disobedient and enslaved by all kinds of passions & pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hate d and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous                                                     things we had done but because of his mercy.” –(Titus 3: 3-5 )

Advent begins the fourth Sunday before Christmas, which this year is December 1. This Advent, we will be taking a journey to Narnia, so we encourage everyone to read (or re-read) the book,  The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S.  Lewis to prepare for this wonderful   journey. You can find the book in most any library, and can read through it in a matter of a few hours. Give it a read early, and come to worship ready for a  remarkable  journey to Christmas.

Blue Christmas Worship Service: Saturday, December 21, 2019

Not everyone is jolly and cheery for the Christmas holidays. Dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with the loss of a job, living with cancer or some other disease that puts a question mark over the future, and a number of other human  situations make parties and joviality painful for many people in our  congregation and  community, even years after the event. There is a growing attentiveness to the needs of  people who are blue at Christmas.

Our church is creating a sacred space for people who are living through dark times, and those who  support them. Our Blue Christmas service is reflective, accepting of where we really are, and  holding out healing and hope. Come out, and join with us in sharing and hearing prayers, scripture, and music that acknowledge that God’s presence is for those who mourn, for those who struggle—and that God’s Word comes to shine light into our darkness. Our Blue Christmas Worship Service will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 7:00 pm. Please join us, whether you yourself are blue during this Christmas season, but especially if you would support someone who is, and share with your friends this opportunity to worship.

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER TIME
We feel that it is important to be a congregation that prays together… Prayer is an important part of our daily lives. Every Sunday, at 5:30 pm, we come together to pray.

You are welcome to come to the church office or even log onto our Facebook page to see some of the things that we are praying about. Feel free to comment as well. If you can’t be present physically, you can join us in prayer where ever you may be at that time.
