God’s Closet News: August 2018

It’s hard to believe that it will soon be “back to school,” time! AUMC will have school supplies in the center hall of the basement on August 8th from 2:00 pm—5:00 pm or as long as they last.

If any member wishes to donate supplies such as backpacks, small and large crayons, notebook paper, pencils, pens, water-color paints, folders, rulers, or pink erasers, etc, please feel free to do so.

We have had several families shop in the closet this past week with their children and lots of clothing went out which makes my heart smile!

Food Pantry News: August 2018

Last month I told you about being invited to the ECIWCTU meeting (East Central Illinois Woman’s Christian Temperance Union).  It is a group of very nice ladies.

I enjoyed their meeting.  They made me feel very welcome.  They insisted I join them for lunch.  That is always a good thing especially since the meeting was at Yoders.  They gave me a large donation of canned goods for the pantry.

The pantry continues to be busy.  We are helping a new person who moved to town.  We are helping him until he gets his first pay check.  He appreciates everything people are doing for him to help him get on his feet.

The pantry is low on cereal, toilet tissue, Kleenex and toilet articles like shampoo, deodorant, tooth paste and tooth brushes.  As always, “thank you” for supporting our outreach project.

News from God’s Closet July 2018

June has been a busy month in God’s Closet. We have received many large clothing donations as well as donations of kitchen items. A coffee maker went out the same day that it came in!
We had a request for boy shoes for ages 10 to 12. Howard and I have had a great week this month with two of our great grandchildren: Jack who is age 4 and Olive Elaine Ramsey from Tulsa, Oklahoma. We all loved playing at Eberhard Park!

We look forward to the Arthur fire-works. May God bless all of you at AUMC!
