Blessing of the Backpacks

During Worship on Sunday, August 14, a special service, “Blessing of the Backpacks”, was held. A prayer was said for our students (preschool-college) returning to school. After we prayed for our students, a prayer was also given to our school administrators, teachers, staff, school board and custodians. The special part of this prayer took place as all of the students laid their hands upon the shoulders of an administrator, teacher, staff member, school board member or custodian. It definitely was a special moment!

God’s Closet News for August

(Sharefaith App Image)

The closet had 54 visits this past month. The hot weather brought families in looking for summer clothes. The closet will no longer be buying diapers for babies or laundry soap for families, so donations of diapers or soap would be happily accepted.
School supplies are being brought in and will be available on August 10th from 3 to 4:00 p.m. Donations of school supplies would also be very welcome. Thanks to all who have donated baby clothing or supplies this past month.

August Food Pantry News

(Sharefaith App Image)

The pantry continues to be busy.  In June we helped 24 families and in July we helped 22.  With the increase of traffic, I have had to buy a lot of groceries to try to keep the shelves full.  Besides food from the pantry, couples get a voucher for $25 to buy perishables that I can’t stock.  Families get a voucher for $50.  My money is getting very low so I have had to stop giving vouchers.

I can always use cereal, canned corn, peas & green beans, canned chicken, tuna in water, peanut butter, jelly, chicken noodle soup, canned peaches & pineapple, fruit juice, ketchup & mustard, instant potatoes, instant rice, shampoo, deodorant, body soap, clothes soap and toilet paper

Many families are worried about the expenses of getting their children back in school.  I feel this is probably the reason the pantry is busier than usual. Thank you for your continued support of this much needed outreach project.
