November Food Pantry News

(Sharefaith App Image)

In the month of October we have had three very large food donations to the pantry.

October 2, the Christian Church gave us 10 wagon loads of food.  October 19, our youth

group had a community food drive. Then on October 29, Arthur Evening Woman’s Club had their annual Halloween Festival.  Admission was a can of food donated to the pantry.

All three events have filled the pantry. The only items I could use at this time are

saltine crackers, cereal or tomato juice. As always thank you for supporting this project.

Church Conference: Thurs, Nov 10 @ 7:00 pm

CHURCH CONFERENCE: November 10 @ 7:00 pm immediately preceding Church Council meeting

Heavy equipment is digging away in our lot, in preparation for construction of our new building. Things are progressing, and our excitement is building. The building committee has met with the District Board of Church Location and Building, which is requiring three things from us.

The first two, a report on the loan payments and a breakdown of the contractor’s expenses, are simple accounting issues that are being taken care of by the committee.

The third requirement is that we include the loan payments in our budget, and approve that revised budget at a Church Conference. A Church Conference is a conference where all members of the church have voice and vote. I have been given permission to be the acting presiding elder for a church Conference by our District Superintendent.

Therefore (finally, we’re getting to the point!) I am calling a Church Conference for November 10 at 7:00pm. immediately preceding our Church Council meeting, for the purpose of voting on the revised budget for 2017. This is the only business that is before the Conference, so I see the meeting taking about 10 minutes tops.

Blessings on you, and on us as we continue on this wonderful journey God has placed us upon.
