October 2018 God’s Closet News

Welcome to Fall & God’s Closet

We have received many large donations of  children’s clothing for fall and winter. We welcome all children from birth to high school at this time, as we are not asking for men’s clothing because of space.  We are in need  clothing from birth to school age. Once it comes in, it goes out fast!

Diapers and laundry soap are also always welcome! If you are  doing any fall cleaning, we will welcome kitchen items—they go out fast too.

Crafty Crafters are busy getting ready for the bazaar in November. What a show with so many craft items! We have had a run on lap quilts. Crafters put the tops together and I put it together. Then Jean Barnhart ties the love knots at Eberhardt Village. The residents enjoy seeing them come and go each week! What a joy!

I am also happy that the children are coming back to start youth on Wednesdays! I have really missed them! “

October 2018 Food Pantry News

The pantry continues to be busy. We have had some unique and exciting donations this month.
First, there was a bridal shower that had food gifted to the shower, and then they  donated it to the pantry. Secondly, our local FFA participated in a 10 –gallon challenge. They purchased 10 gallons of milk to support dairy farmers and then  donated those to our food pantry! The FFA challenged other groups to do the same thing. Their hope was that this challenge would spread in central Illinois.

Last of all, the Oakland United Methodist Church Food Pantry had a surplus of cereal which they generously shared with us. We have been richly blessed with the generosity of many groups lately. The families who come to the food pantry are very  appreciative of all the kindness. The pantry is in need of canned fruit,  toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, toilet tissue and laundry soup. Thanks for supporting!

News from God’s Closet: September 2018

Welcome to September & God’s Closet. The school supplies went fast and made many school children excited for the first day of classes. We have just a few things left. Thanks so much to Kathy Oye and Oye’s Hardware for all their help & support! We have had a lot of families shopping for school clothing for their children. There have been lots of excited children of all sizes finding things that they like!

Our kitchen items have been going out fast!   If anyone is doing any fall sorting at their house, we can help by sharing… We had to post some signs stating that we are not accepting adult clothing for awhile because I want to have some more children’s clothing available.   Don’t forget bed sheets, blankets and pillows go out fast too! If you have some that you would like to share, we will gladly take it. There have been 62 shoppers this month. Our local dentist donated dental supplies for the back to school children. What a blessing! Thank you so much!

Crafty Crafters have made and sold many beautiful quilts the past few months. Thanks to Jean Barnhart’s crafty knot tying! Thanks to all for helping keep the closet going. We couldn’t’ do it without your help!
